Doll Camps for
girls 7-13
Summer Doll Camp is a week long
camp for girls 7-13 and their American Girl ® dolls.
Many hand skills are taught such as sewing by hand and machine.
Girls learn to make things for their dolls, such as doll
clothes, realistic miniature doll foods out of Sculpey ®
clay, doll accessories (handbag, doll wreath, shoes, bedding),
and simple doll furniture. Helga Motley is holding this
popular camp for the 12th summer, for 7 different weeks.
Class size is kept small, to 6 kids, so reserve space early.
All skill levels are welcome, so girls ranging from from
the inexperienced to the advanced are welcome.

|
Class
size is limited to 6, so register early. |

Kids
use their own imagination, and the materials and skills
the teacher provides to make small worlds to play
with. At first, as a group, we make a diorama scene
out of colorful plasticene clay. Then each child builds
houses out of cardboard and foam core, paints them,
and constructs furniture. We make moveable, jointed
people and animals out of sculpey clay. Then we add
mountains, caves and trees made from papermache, leather
and other materials. Kids at all levels of skills
and experience are welcome.This
class is held during afternoons only. If a child gets
tired of making things, there is a vast playmobil
miniature world set up for a relaxing play break. |

Class
size is limited, so register early. |
| Kids
will use legos, plasticene clay and other materials to
build a tabletop story scene together. This is a group-collaborative
project and the goal is to make a simple clay animation
story. Story ideas will come from the kids. They will
be working with legos, colorful plasticene clay and other
materials to create characters, landscapes, buildings
for the story. They will be working in the large studio
of the experienced photographer/ clay artist, Helga Motley.
All photography will be done digitally by Helga and an
animation expert will transform the images into a short
movie. After class is over, each kid will be sent a DVD

into hard and permanent small sculptures). The purpose

activities at the beginning of the summer, and to wind
down at the end of the summer.
